As September comes to an end, this verse is a powerful reminder that you cannot fully embrace what is ahead while constantly reaching back for what is behind. Paul had victories, failures, accomplishments, regrets, and painful experiences in his past, yet he refused to allow any of them to become his permanent address. He made a decision to keep reaching forward.
Maybe September did not unfold exactly the way you expected. Some prayers may still be unanswered. Some plans may have changed. Some doors may not have opened yet. But an unfinished September does not mean God is finished with your story. Tomorrow begins a new month, and three months still remain in 2026. There is still time to grow, rebuild, heal, finish what you started, pursue the vision, and experience something you did not see coming.
God is saying to you today:
“Leave behind what I never intended for you to carry forward. Stop replaying the disappointment, the mistake, the rejection, and the opportunity that did not work out. September is ending, but My work in your life is not. I am calling you forward. Take the lessons with you, but leave the weight behind. There are still doors to walk through, prayers to pray, assignments to complete, and new beginnings waiting ahead. Do not spend the final three months of this year mourning what did not happen in the first nine. Lift your head, strengthen your faith, and keep moving. I still have more ahead for you.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for carrying me through September. As this month closes, help me release every disappointment, regret, distraction, and burden that does not belong in my next season. I refuse to live looking backward when You are calling me forward. Give me fresh strength, renewed focus, and greater faith as I enter October and the final three months of this year. Help me finish 2026 stronger, wiser, more disciplined, and closer to You. I trust that what is behind me cannot stop what You still have ahead of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
