Put God First

Jesus spoke these words while teaching about worry. The people listening to Him had real concerns about food, clothing, tomorrow, and whether their needs would be met. Jesus did not pretend those needs were unimportant. Instead, He taught them where their priority should begin: seek God first. Before you allow tomorrow to consume your thoughts, remember who holds tomorrow.

We often spend so much energy chasing what we need that we forget to seek the One who provides. Matthew 6:33 invites us to reverse that order. Start with God. Pray before you panic. Seek His wisdom before making the decision. Pursue His will before forcing the opportunity. When God becomes your first priority, everything else can be approached from a place of faith instead of fear.

God is saying to you today:
“Put Me first and trust Me with everything else. I know what you need before you ask Me. I know about the bills, the responsibilities, the opportunities you are waiting for, the doors you need opened, and the decisions you need to make. Do not spend this season consumed by chasing what you think will make you secure. Seek Me. Let Me direct your steps, shape your decisions, and give you wisdom for what comes next. I am teaching you to depend on Me instead of being controlled by worry. Keep Me at the center, do what I have placed in your hands faithfully, and trust Me with what you cannot control.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today I choose to put You first. Before I worry about tomorrow, remind me that tomorrow is already in Your hands. Guide my decisions, order my steps, and help me pursue what honors You. Provide for my needs and give me wisdom with everything You place in my hands. Keep me from chasing opportunities that take me away from Your purpose. As I seek You first, give me peace concerning everything else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
