I’ve been expecting God’s favor and help, having faith, and hearing Joel Osteen describe my situation to a tee—and then say, that’s right, when God shows up. But I look at my broken-out skin, this approaching enrollment deadline for school, my broken, bleached hair that’s 80% fallen out, the weight on my body that wasn’t here a year ago, and the fact that I’m sleeping on the floor, searching for ants to not be crawling on this futon mattress in this storage-room-turned-dining-space in the living room… and it feels so hard.
I’ve had faith under really hard conditions and been happy and of good cheer. I cannot fathom why God hasn’t produced the miracle. It kind of—no, it really—hurts. But I praise Him anyway.
