Fear has a way of making problems appear larger than they really are. It tells you something bad is about to happen, that you are not strong enough for what is ahead, or that one difficult situation will ruin everything. But Paul reminds Timothy that fear is not what God has given us. God gives power when you feel weak, love when fear tries to harden your heart, and a sound mind when your thoughts begin racing in every direction. You do not have to believe every fearful thought that enters your mind. You can pray, breathe, slow your thoughts down, and remind yourself of what God has already brought you through. The same God who strengthened you before will strengthen you again. Walk into today knowing fear does not control your future. God does.
God is saying to you today:
“My child, I need you to stop allowing fear to write stories about things that have not even happened. You have spent enough time imagining the worst. I did not give you a spirit of fear. I have given you power to face what is in front of you, love to keep your heart steady, and a sound mind to make wise decisions. When your thoughts start racing, come back to Me. When anxiety tells you everything is falling apart, remember how many times I have already carried you through. You are stronger than this moment is making you feel because My strength is working within you. Take the next step. Make the phone call. Apply for the opportunity. Start again. Walk into the room with confidence. Whatever today brings, you will not face it alone. Fear does not get to decide what you do next. Faith does.”
Prayer:
Dear God, today I refuse to let fear control my thoughts, decisions, or future. Quiet the thoughts that keep expecting the worst and replace them with Your peace. Give me courage to face what I have been avoiding and wisdom to handle what is in front of me. When my mind begins racing, help me remember that You have given me a sound mind. When I feel weak, remind me that Your power is available to me. I will not allow fear to talk me out of opportunities, blessings, new beginnings, or the life You are calling me to live. Today I choose faith over fear, peace over panic, and courage over hesitation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
